MAHA 2006 Will Bring About A Paradigm Shift In Agriculture, Says Najib

SERDANG, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- The Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-Tourism (MAHA) 2006 exposition at the Malaysian Agriculture Exposition Park here will bring about a paradigm shift in the sector, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

He said the sector will no longer be viewed as uncompetitive but one that was profitable and dynamic.

This was because besides exhibiting agriculture and agro-based products, it also showcased many new technological applications that could be used by farmers, livestock breeders and agro-entrepreneurs to boost their businesses, he said.

"Consumers too appreciate it (the expo) as it also involves them," he told reporters after spending about four hours visiting the expo site sprawled over 84.4 hectares, Thursday. Also present was Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The MAHA 2006 expo is organised by the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry in collaboration with the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (Fama) and the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade)

The biennial event, which is being held in conjunction with this year's National Farmers, Fishermen and Livestock Breeders Day, was opened by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Monday and will end on Sunday.

Najib said that the participation of 11 countries like China, Australia, India, New Zealand, Belgium, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Canada, Singapore, Laos and Indonesia in the expo showed that the government's effort in holding it paid big dividends as it had received international recognition.

He was confident the MAHA expo would gather added momentum in future as the Cabinet, had on Wednesday, agreed to allocate RM220 million for a permanent world class agriculture expo park to be built at the site.

"MAHA can not only be an agriculture expo, but also a tourist attraction for both locals and foreigners alike," he said.

With average visitors exceeding 100,000 daily, twice more than the previous MAHA, Najib believed that efforts to make agriculture an engine of growth would be successful.

The MAHA 2006 targeted 500,000 visitors, but looking at the response so far, it is likely the figure will be far exceeded.

"There have been calls for it (MAHA 2006) to be extended, but that is up to Tan Sri Muhyiddin to consider," Najib said.

MAHA 2006 is open to the public and is free of charge. The exhibition hours are from 10 am to 10 pm.

The Ipoh Orchid Growers Association, which is also participating in the expo, has named a new hybrid of the plant "Ascorahnis Dato' Seri Najib' in his honour.

Simplicity is the main course photographer should learn to. Did you realize how pro taking picture? There is only one subject at one time. Let say if we are going to take a tiger picture at the zoo. Even we can see two to three tigers walking very close distance, we just need to take only one tiger only. This subject needs to be simplified it with no disruption from background or textures behind the subject like tree, cage etc. If we can masters in this techniques, everybody who look at our pictures will smile.....

The concept of taking picture is simple. Generally, peoples will take a picture do not bother unexpected result like when we are getting a picture for our family...just our family, we don't bother if subject taken optimized space or not. Alternatively, when we are going to take a picture for a statue and children beside the statue, which subject do we need to zoom in? Is it the children or a statue? The answer here, we need to concentrate on statue despite of children because we want to highlights its size like how its height... and how it’s widen. Therefore, before we take any picture we need to think first and your eye is the main 'processor' and 'director' to the picture.

In photography, this topic is known as COMPOSITION. This tips need to well verse for those who novice in this fields.

What a different between pro and amateur when taking a picture or what a different picture taken by pro and amateur? The answer is quality... It similar with restaurant or food stall, what a different between one stall and other stalls. The answer is same... quality. However, what is quality in food stall? If you realize, quality at food stall is cheap, fast, delicious and a lot. Therefore, as in photography, the quality is measures on emotion captured and ability for people to create their own story while seeing the picture. That is quality. Because of that reason, there come out a few tips like rules of thumb, 'off centre', golden rules and so on. All these tips are creating for photographer to do their 'painting' on their viewfinder or LCD screen. For those who got so much experienced in this field will over ruled these tips whenever they see the ways.

Hi friend, I like to share with you what we can call it garden of buffalo. Here, I give you two photos which are very interesting and have a very unique idea. Can you catch a theme for that garden? This landscape was designed by Municipal Councilor at Pahang; a eastern Malaysia state. Pahang is known as region with buffalo farm. So, regarding Visit Malaysia Year 2007, I suggest for you guys to add in Pahang state as your must destination. It is very beautiful country and popular with its beach and wonderful island. We have several ways to shoot a flower; macro, rule of third, the golden mean or your own ways. If photo snaps only for your collection, carry on because nobody could comments on you but if you are going to share with others, please learn basic techniques first. So many sites on internet you can get...just surfs it!!! I want share something nice for you to see. When we are trying to snap on flower, you can make it as close as you can or you can use 'Macro' setting if available. If you are using SLR, you can have extra lens for Macro photo. Come, let's eat it!!!

Probably you already heard about in the press during the past months that Konica Minolta Holding, Inc. in Tokio has officially announced on January, 19th 2006 that it is withdrawing from the camera and photo business.

For this reason also Konica Minolta Photo World will close on June, 15th 2006.

In the past we enjoyed it a lot writing detailed workshops, numerous articles, and stories around photography.

We have fond memories of all those fascinating pictures you sent us within the scope of countless photo contests and we will remember all the kind feedback mails we received from you.

Flower is an interesting icon for photographer as human attraction since long ago. Flowers come in difference shape, colors and fumes. In our life, try to color ourselves to enjoy the true meaning of life.
My favourite techniques to capture flower is macro. This technique can detail out flower's pattern and texture. It's a bonus during capturing flower picture suddenly insect like ant, bees, ladybird has playing around with flower. If we can capture this condition, we are actually capturing the nature of flora and fauna.

Malaysia International Landscape Garden 2006

Recently in Kuala Lumpur, located at Perdana Lake Garden; events for garden lanscaping enthusiasm had attracting Malaysian and non-Malaysian visitors with themes Oasis of Beauty. Here, we can see a lot of landscapes designer and companies promoting their products. One of my interesting sculpture is captured here. The picture was taken with my first digital camera, Lumix FX-9. Photos taken description; A=F5.6, S=1/160, Focal Length=5.8mm

The reason why I like most this landscape is the way it was arraged with a simple decoration. You can see only a few plants with a medium size vase is use with orange color as backgroud attracting not only me but most of visitors. The combination green, brown and orange colors will creates themes of sharing between modern and nature life. The two frames hung look like a value add to this sculpture. Hope next year, this festival will attracting more company to share their new idea of sculpture design as arts of home landscape.
